Money to get business

One of the beauties of the modern world is that we can ask for money to help us make money. And now two public service organizations in Ohio have just successfully partnered to get some money to go out and procure other companies to come and do business here. Here's the scoop on Omeris and PolymerOhio:
"...a three-year, $1.5 million 'Asset-based Company Attraction Program' grant...[for] attracting companies to Ohio’s greatest areas of technological strength in the biosciences, including cardiology, cancer, neurosciences, medical polymers, bioinformatics, and agricultural biosciences."
Out of about 8,000 companies around the world with annual sales in excess of $100 million, they hope to attract 8 to 12 companies to relocate existing facilities or establish a new one in Ohio. More here.

I am glad to see Omeris continue its helpful ways. John Lewis & his group were very helpful when I started my NE Ohio bioscience company. We were able to generate 15 new employee positions that in the past probably would have left the area. Now the bad news....a NE Ohio VC has 'grown' the company to 9 employees & stunted the growth just to get a larger ownership position. I hope the company can survive their 'help'.
